Damned if they don't get it

Finding new bands that I enjoy seems like an almost daily occurrence, and from time to time I find a band that just seems to get music and they do what they want.  Any entertainer whether it be a comedian, an actor, or a musician needs fans and at times keeping those fans is not very easy.  One hit wonders abound, from all eras and types of music, so a good band finds their comfort zone and if so they don't become the next one hit wonder.  In my quest for musical nirvana (not the band, don't get me started about that band), I found a band that gets it.

Several months ago I found a band called "Children of Bodom" when I was looking for another song on YouTube, and I was immediately hooked.  The song I found was a remake of a Britney Spears song, "Oops I Did It Again", and all I could do while listening to it was laugh so hard milk would have shot out of my nose had I been drinking any.

First of all any band that destroys the super, sickening sweet bubblegum music, I'm all for, but that remake was classic.  As I began to dig through the videos, I found a plethora of remakes as well as many original songs, and it became obvious how great this band was.

Children of Bodom is a Finnish heavy metal band that merges the noise of heavy metal with the intensity of thrash and the vocals that can only be called, painful to attempt to duplicate.  How Alexi Laiho can sing like the way he does amazes me, it really does.  I believe that singing in this fashion is much like singing with glass in your mouth while standing in a deep fat fryer, and that may not even scratch the surface.

Children of Bodom is worth the time it takes to find a song, and a few of the songs in which I would recommend are listed below.

Children of Bodom (hyperlinks below)
     Oops I Did It Again
     Looking Out My Front Door
Somebody Put Something In My Drink

Take a few minutes and give these guys a chance, their music speaks for itself.
